Comic event line-up

This weekend (14th-16th October 2016) sees two comic and cosplay events within the U.K.

First up is The Lakes International Comic Art Festival 2016. This weekend long event takes over much of Kendal, on the edge of the Lake District. What makes this event unique is that there is free and paid for events during the weekend.

For the free events, there is a Comics Clock Tower open all weekend, that will be full of creators, publishers and retailers helping to represent a wide range of comics. There will also be a free family zone with activities planned for children of all ages. Amongst this will be free exhibitions to view, as well as a comic art trail throughout the Kendal town.

The ticketed events include workshops for children and teenagers, workshops, and the opportunity to meet comic book artists and writers. This includes being able to watch them draw, create and talk about their work.

Tickets for the paid events can still be purchased online, with a link through the main event website. The website promises that Kendal is a welcoming town for the weekend for everything comic related, and last year the event brought 14,000 visitors to Kendal.

The second event for this weekend is Geekfest York 2016.

Being held at the university of York, Geekfest is back on the 15th and 15th October 2016. Both days the event is open from 10am to 5pm, with additional comic related activities for York university students in the evenings this weekend.

Tickets are available online now for £3.00 each, plus a 50p processing fee, making it £3.50 a person. These can be swapped on the day for an entry wristband for weekend entry, making it a bargain price for this two day comic event! On the door prices for the wristbands are £5.00 for the weekend. Children aged under 12 years do not need a wristband, so can gain free entry!
